Finished watching 6-part series, God in America

An educational survey of religious life and influences in America. Role of Christianity in particular. Makes me want to inquire more about key figures like John Winthrop, Anne Hutchinson, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, William Jennings Bryan, Billy Graham, Martin Luther King Jr. and others. This country has significantly changed over time, and it is therefore essential to know the historical factors that can explain the present religious landscape we see today. The nation's roots in Christianity may sometimes be overemphasized by conservatives, but there is truth to be found there nonetheless. It has gone astray and only glimpses of the faithful have survived to give America the chance to respond once again to God. It is comforting at some level to know that the destiny of this nation ultimately rests solely in His hands and not in our own (even to the delusion of most of its citizens).
